Short Jumper Cables

My battery is old.

The weather is cold.

I will do as I was taught . . .

And back into my space in the parking lot.

Keep the Change

I pulled up to the window for a small coffee — a five-dollar bill and three ones at the ready. While wondering whether I would have to part with my five, she said “ninety-seven cents.” Daylight Donuts, Portales, New Mexico.

Deciding

Who decides quickly and moves on? Who makes a thorough study of alternatives? Often, when you make a decision, you feel relief and not doubt from unexplored options. What’s at stake? If risk is inconsequential, make a decision and move on.

Time

Eight hours for work.

Eight more to sleep, if you’re lucky.

Eight remain at your discretion; choose wisely.

Solo Vacation

Pick a direction on a highway.  And drive.  Drive until you’re ready to stop driving.

Time to think.

Uninterrupted.

Sip coffee at a diner in a town small enough that everyone knows you are from someplace else.  Imagine a different life.
