Where is the serial number for your camper? It is engraved on a metal plate fastened to the fiberglass. If you have a Compact Jr., the plate is located to the left of the bottom of your door. If you have a Compact II or Hunter I, the plate is on the front driver’s side near the frame. It’s possible your serial number and date of manufacture is also stamped directly onto the trailer tongue. The VIN on your certificate of title should match the serial number on your camper.

Stamped into the tongue of this early Compact Jr. is the Date of Manufacture (top) and the Serial Number (bottom). The middle number is a reference of approval by the California construction standards.
Different from the stamped numbers in the photos above, your trailer tongue may have a metal plate with a number on it. That is not the serial number of the camper. It’s the identification number of the frame manufacturer, Ward & Son, Inc., of Industry California. (This company also may have supplied some of the appliances in your camper like the ice box and gas range).
